Brisbanes Western Suburbs

June 30, 2021

Brisbanes Western suburbs stretch from the inner west suburbs of Taringa, Indooroopilly and St Lucia along the river to the affluent suburbs of Chapel Hill, Fig Tree Pocket, Kenmore and Kenmore Hills, bordered by Mount Cootha and then on to the prestigious and rural Brookfield, Upper Brookfield and Pullenvale.  Further west but still following the river and still commutable to Brisbanes CBD you have Pinjarra Hills, Anstead, Bellbowrie and Moggill, the latter two with shopping, medical centres and very well regarded Primary Schools. Indooroopilly has an excellent Westfield shopping centre to include a cinema, department stores and specialist shopping just across from the train station and architecturally beautiful Walter Taylor Bridge.

There are state senior schools at Kenmore and Indooroopilly and a wide choice of private schools around the Indooroopilly area.

The outer suburbs are renowned for rolling countryside, acreage homesteads, horse country, beautiful walks and friendly communities enjoying the country lifestyle just 20 kms from the city.

From Moggill you can take the historic ferry across the river to access the train station at Riverview, or to commute to Ipswich or Brisbane via the Centenary Motorway.

Brookfield show grounds host a popular Farmers market and there are Produce and Garden Centres at Anstead and Brookfield.

Café wise you are spoilt for choice in the inner suburbs and Kenmore.  Brookfield has the Wild Canary (within Brookfield Garden Centre), Anstead has The Reserve and both Bellbowrie and Moggill have cafes close to the shopping centres.

Further out but still commutable to either Ipswich or Brisbane you have Karana Downs, Mount Crosby and Karalee with the beautiful Colleges Crossing park area right by the river offering picnic, play park, café, fishing and canoe/kayak access to the river.
